Family Room

The Challenge:  Long narrow, dark rooms with little wall space.

The Solution:  Space planning and paint.

After discussing the space and its various uses, we suggested breaking it into two spaces; a masculine, sports watching area and a more feminine, entertaining area.  After painting the entire space a lighter color to coordinate with the color scheme, we determined the best use of space.  In the masculine area, we bought a leather recliner and a small sectional.  The artwork and accessories were kept simple while we used fur, dark wood, and geometric patterns to support the function of the room.  The ottoman can be used as additional seating if needed.
On the feminine side of the room, notice the use of a lighter palette, florals, glass, and softer textures.  Reading areas were established with plenty of light sources.  Family photos complete the space.  The best part of the room is that they are separate but together.  The clients can entertain in the entire space and still feel connected.
